How it works

Scanning parcels

Acting as an Nparcel agent - you’ll handle parcel pick-ups and deliveries from customers.  When a customer is picking up parcels or dropping off parcels at your newsagent, you’ll need to scan the parcel barcode also known as the parcel label number, using your wedge scanner.

There are several format labels – see examples below.

You must remember to select either ’collection’ or ’drop-off’ on the portal before you actually scan the label with the wedge scanner

Collecting parcels

Calling card

Customers that are collecting parcels must present their Nparcel Calling card in order to receive their parcel from your Nparcel Newsagent. The Calling card displays the receiver’s (customers) name and parcel details. The receiver’s details will also be displayed on the parcel to cross-reference that the correct parcel being collected.

The customer must also present their drivers licence as proof of identity before you hand over of the parcel.

Collection scan

When customers are collecting parcels, simply select the ’Collection’ option displayed on the Collection / drop off’ page (as displayed below) to complete the process. There’s no need for a signature to be obtained for the collection as the scanning performed along with either of the accompanying correct photo Identification and number, within the process is sufficient (drivers licence, passport, government issued photo ID).

Process

  1. Check the customers Calling card and ensure this matches the detail on the parcel they’re collecting
  2. Ask the customer for photo identification (drivers licence). The customer should already have this with them as the Calling card advises them they’re required to present this for pick-up.
  3. Key in the receivers full name and their full identification number. This also relates to drivers licence numbers for complete confirmation of delivery purposes.
  4. Then either scan the bar code of the label or manually type / enter the complete label number into the system using your computer key board
  5. Click on ’Send scan’ to upload the transaction. Only 1 bar code / label number can be transacted at once. Multiple parcels will require a separate scan per parcel transaction.

Your transaction is now complete.

The parcel tracking details will be available on the track tab shortly after this transaction.

Dropping off parcels

Drop off scan

Multiple parcels will require a separate scan per parcel transaction.
